Maureen Heymans

VP Engineering at Google

Maureen is a VP of Engineering in the Learning & Sustainability department at Google. 
She leads initiatives to revolutionize learning and education within Google products (Search, YouTube, Classroom, and more). Her work centers on harnessing AI to create personalized tutors for every student and teaching assistants to empower every teacher, ultimately democratizing access to quality education. 
Additionally, she is a lead in Google's Sustainability department, leveraging information and AI innovation to identify solutions for combating climate change and helping build a sustainable future for everyone. 
Her impressive trajectory at Google encompasses leadership roles in the Google App & Discover Engineering teams and years spent improving Google ranking. 
She started at Google in 2003 after getting her master's degree in Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Maureen is originally from Belgium and moved to the United States in 2001. She completed her Master degree in engineering with a specialization in applied mathematics (and a minor in computer science) at the Universite Catholique de Louvain.
