Johnny Soraker

Johnny is an AI Ethicist in Google’s Responsible Innovation team. Merging his background and interest in programming, psychology and philosophy, he did his PhD on the ethics of technology at the University of Twente, where he subsequently worked as assistant professor of philosophy. He joined Google in 2017, eventually taking on the role as AI ethicist in its Responsible Innovation team, which is in charge of aligning every AI product launch with Google’s AI Principles. He also leads a team of researchers dedicated to anticipating and mitigating potential AI risks, working closely with product teams to find creative ways of optimising for social benefit and mitigating risk.
